Anyone know of, or have a junked 85-89 Ranger or BII that might have the fuel reservoir still intact? I broke the tips off mine when I unbolted it from the frame and am having one hell of a time trying to find one in my area. I know LMC Truck offers them new, but the truck was free and I haven't even heard the dang thing run yet. Don't really want to go throwing a bunch of new parts at it without knowing how it runs first.

Willing to pay cross border shipping if need be!

Your's might be specific to '86, does it have an upstream fuel filter past the high pressure pump? I have a good one from an '88, but been busy busy busy lately.

My 86 had the filter inside the reservoir, so no filter upstream. At this point though, I'd take one from an 88 just to see if the truck even runs!

If you're up to red deer I'll let you go through my parts vehicle collection for free or trade. If I have to look and remove and mail my time is $65.00 an hour.

I did the same thing and broke one of the tips off. For a quick fix you can do what I did and cut the female ends off the feed and return lines and reconnect them with some brass barbed fittings, and if your careful you can save the plastic female ends you cut off and reuse them later if you find a replacement reservoir. I'm not positive but after your inline hp fuel pump you might have a canister fuel filter inside your frame rail around the motor mount area. Good luck.

Aha! If I can't find anything down here within the next week or so, I'll come see you when we're up in Airdrie visiting the in-laws.

I'll be in touch, and thanks Richard!

Stacey.

I was actually thinking of doing something like this. I found an inline fuel filter that has the ford ends and fits the one line perfectly (can't remember if it's the supply or return). The other line is smaller, so maybe I'll do something like you suggested if I come up empty handed or can't get up to see Richard anytime soon.

Well there we go! Found another inline filter that we carry here at work that fits the other line! So, gonna pop the box off again this weekend, install them and see what happens.

The truck hasn't ran in years, so I'm expecting the o-rings in the connectors to be dry as a popcorn fart, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I just want to hear the damn thing run!

Thanks Richard! Even if this does work, I'll still get in touch with you as I'd still like to put the stock reservoir on. This is just kind of a temporary solution just to get the thing running.

PM with advance notice. A week should suffice.
Also full size trucks of the same era had accumulator/reservoirs as well.

Good luck, I hope it fires up for you and you get that reservoir. I never did find a replacement reservoir, ford stopped carrying them and the junk yard finds were there for a reason.
