Hello everyone, after a lot of problems, the check engine light was no longer coming on. I removed the PCM and checked if it was a capacitor that had failed. In fact, in my PCM there is only one capacitor so I ordered the same one, I replaced it and now I have the check engine light coming on again but the fuel pump does not stop after two seconds as it should; in addition it makes a strange noise like a crackling sound.
In your opinion, is this a PCM problem or something else? I point out that the pump was working very well before the PCM problem.

So you replaced the ECM... or the capacitor?

Where does this crackling noise coming from?

I replaced the capacitor, the noise comes from the fuel pump

You only have one pump... in tank?

No, two pumps, it's the one below the driver that makes this noise.

So do both fuel pumps run constantly?

That front pump could make a little noise IF the in tank pump isn't providing fuel to it.

The last time this came up here... pump doesn't shut off with key on... I believe it was an ECM capacitor issue.

Did you get a good clean solder job on the cap you replaced?

I didn't pay attention to whether the pump in the tank was running continuously, you can hear it much less than the other one when it's running, for the welding, I'm not an expert but I took my time and tried to be as careful as possible

I had asked the following question on several forums: my pcm is E8TF-12A650-U1C, would an E8TF-12A650-UC pcm without the 1 work but no one was able to answer me?

AFAIK, all 88 2.9 PCM are the same except for manual or automatic transmission and California or federal emission. Not sure how that applies to a truck in Belgium.

Thanks for your reply, that's what I thought, I ordered one from Cardonne remanufactured, we'll see if that solves my problems

So here it is, I received the Cardonne pcm and I connected it, the engine started immediately for about 45 seconds making a lot of white smoke and then it stopped like that suddenly; I had connected a pressure gauge to the shaeder valve and the pressure remained good even after the engine stopped.
Now the pcm no longer lights up, no "check engine" light comes on, and when I touched this pcm I felt that it was quite hot on the side, I don't know if this is normal, any idea what could prevent the pcm from lighting up?

The only way I can see the PCM being hot is if there a significant amount of current going through it somewhere...

If you placed an extra 'N' in Cardone by mistake, you might look here for Cardone parts experiences....

It's Cardone indeed with an n; now I'm wary of reputation, in general it's disappointed people who give a bad rating, people who are happy don't take the time to give a good rating.
I had the choice between Cardone and Blue Streak Electronics, maybe I should have chosen the other
On the other hand even if it is a bad pcm that does not explain why it lights up sometimes but not every time, I think I have a gremmlins somewhere but where?

Ignition switch? PCM relay? Both can be intermittent like that. Could even be a loose/corroded battery terminal.

I wonder if a bad ground to the PCM could cause low voltage and therefor high current in all of the circuits?
