Hello again,
I have a 96 ranger. 4 cylinder.
It was running great until recently. After about 5 minutes of driving it starts to act like its not getting gas. Almost like it would feel if you run out of gas. If you keep pressing the gas it gets worse and you can hear a "pop" from the rear it sounds like. If you let go of the gas for about 10 seconds or so the problem goes away sometimes and it starts driving normal. I've replaces the fuel sender/pump, fuel filter, fuel/engine treatment. It also recently had a oil change and new air filter. Could it be the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel injectors? It idles fine and when its not acting up it drives like nothings wrong. It doesn't seem to matter if i'm going faster not as I have encountered the problem at various speeds and rpm's.
If it is the injectors or regulator, how the bleep do I get to them?! I read I would have to take off the upper intake manifold. I sat outside until 430 this morning starring at it trying to figure out what the hell I was looking for... I've looked at pictures and read and read but none of it looks like what I see when I open the hood. Im no mechanic but usually if I can see what I need to do and read up on it, I can do it...
Any help would be greatly appreciated, also hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.
