I've had this 2007 Focus SE sedan for about 6 months. Less than 10,000 miles on it. When it's cold, 40F or below, and I have the wheel cut shaply in a parking lot and accelerate, there is a loud grinding noise coming from the front end. This happens when I first get under way; as I drive around the noise eventually goes away.
My buddy has a new Mazda 6 and says the exact thing happens to his car. When the outside temp is cold, the wheel is cut sharply, and he accelerates, a loud grinding comes from the front end.
It almost sounds like a toasted CV shaft, but to have it happen on two new cars is too much of a coincidence. Does anyone know what would cause this?
