Front Bumper Compatibility

I've got an 86 ranger with rusty black bumpers. Now the parts truck I have has nice chrome bumpers, only it was in a front end collision. I will be swapping the back bumper to mine, and have an opportunity to get a matching chrome front bumper, off a 91. My question is, will a 91 front bumper bolt right in place of an 86 front bumper?

Yes if you have the mounting brackets for the 91 bumper.

Chop the sides down and bingo.

or, you can buy my nice chrome bumper i have on my 1983. i'm wanting something more beefy up front to go with my grille guard/push bar.

a gen2 front bumper will only fit a gen 1 if the sides are trimmed.

The gen 2 bumper is a little "tighter" to the sides of the fenders
forward of the wheelwells and the fender of the gen2 is shaped
to accomodate this

as for mounting the bumper brackets?
Yeah they'll bolt right on because the gen2 brackets mount to the
side of the frame the gen one bumper bolts to the end of the frame.
