Found 2.3t engine complete...should I buy?


Hey Hagan, I also live in the salem area and I did a turbo swap if you want to check it out. Its in the garage right now i'm doing a full width axle swap. Your trans is probably not going to hold up to 300 hp. Just to let you know.

Cool! Thats awesome 2 people with 2.3t's are in Salem. Anyway, I kinda figured it wouldn't take the abuse to well.

you get that thing going? sorry I never got back with you, I was pretty mad at my truck after April when I rolled it... I think I've put maybe 3 tanks through it since then, it was parked in the exact same spot until like August after I got home...

No not yet. I'm still working on my dana 44. I haven't even opened it up yet. But how did you roll it? I don't blame you...I get mad at things and have to take a break or I end up breaking something...or throwing tools:icon_rofl:

Did you need some help with it? I don't really know anything about turbo swaps but if I can lend a hand on anything let me know! Sometimes it just better to have aonother person there.

about rolling it, was wheeling in Christmas Valley in the sand going around a bowl and the engine crapped out at the worst time, if it ran then like it does now it wouldn't have happened

Oh now your post makes sense lol!

Well at least it was in sand and not on the side of a hill. I've been to Christmas Valley before on my dirtbike. I decided not to ride because we didn't realize it was dune until we got there.
 
Its been going for awhile now. Running really good tell i let a friend drive it for a bit and he messed up the wiring some how. Think the air temp sending unit is bad. It doesnt want to start after its warmed up. almost done with mock up with the axle swap too. Cant wait to take it out.
 
So is it possible to block off the egr?
 
I did, just because the sensor flange broke... I don't know the difference with and without it though because I haven't ran the turbo engine with it hooked up, don't know how it's hooked to vacuum. I'm actually thinking of putting my spare EGR valve on...

I'm thinking of blocking it off. Not sure though. Do you have a lot of spare turbo parts? A lot of the metal lines are rusty and look like crap and I'd like to either replace them or clean and paint them. And I broke the oil line from the back of the head to the turbo...do you have that?
 
I've gotta look, probably won't have time to look until after next weekend though, I leave for Australia on Friday and get back on the 19th... I don't think I have a spare oil line though, there's a bunch of random stuff like that bent and broken and stuff... you could probably get some brake line or something bent up in a suitable fashion though.

Get it in the truck and running before you throw money at it. A bone stock 2.3 turbo runs good. A lot of people would be happy with it and not spend any more money.

Unless you are the one doing the porting, it is a waste of money.

Unless you are racing it, you don't need any of these parts. even then...
