ford trac-lok to locker

I want to buy a locker for my 8.8 ranger rear end but it comes stock with the ford traction lok, Ive read that you can't install a locker in these rear ends, only if it was an open rear end. are there any lockers out there that will fit? or is there a way to take the trac lok completey out to install a locker?

You can put a locker in, but you have to get an open carrier for it to work.

If I wanted to put a spool in there instead of buying the open carrier would that work? how successful are the rearends when they are welded? that will be my second choice

I wouldn't weld it.

Post up in the classifieds section. Lots of guys would be willing to trade an open carrier for an LS one. I would if I still had any open carrier around.

Ive looked into it, I should just have to burn 10-12 1/8 unicrome rods and it would seal the deal, Im just curious to see if it would grenade on me after lots of use... hmmm

Swap carriers and put an auto locker in.

Search... In my time on here I've seen probably 3 threads covering this.

i'm pretty sure there is a locker out there that will fit in a L/S carrier. dont know if it would be cost effective though.

adsm, i've got a L/S carrier for an 8.8 if you want it, just pay for shipping. it's just hanging out in my garage.
