Floppy seat belts

My front seat belts are floppy when clicked in. I have to open the door to make them tight. But eventually they become loose agian. Is there a way I can fix this. Or is can a seat belt from a Gen one explorer seat belts work? Thanks for the help.

Slam on the brakes and see if they tighten up. If you have other problems they might not, but that's the way the old ones worked. You can pull on them a little bit and they will not be tight on your body, until you are in a accident and they tighten up. You will find if you park on a steep hill, they will stay tight also.

There is a plastic button in the door jamb that you are releasing when you open the door. That is what is tightening them up. I suppose if you wanted them tight all the time, you could take that plastic button and take it out of the door jamb and let it lay inside the door jamb inside the cab. It has a cable on it that goes to the belt tensioner.

Mechanism might just be dirty. Get the cover off. Blow it out with compressed air or maybe brake cleaner down in the center shaft where it rotates and in the inertia mechanism. Maybe lube with a little WD-40 or a dry lube.

Seatbelt planet and others have belts for the B2 that have the modern style retractors that keeps the shoulder belt against your body at all times. Not cheap, but they feel way safer.
