How much of a pain is it to stick a non flex engine in a flex vehicle? I know the pcm is different obviously but as long as you just run on gasoline it should be fine right?

I'm trying to find a used motor but flex fuels are impossible to find. I can find the same engine in non flex all day long...

You need to use the Flex Fuel injectors because they are larger, other than that no problems

The Flex Computer is programmed for the larger injectors, so if you use the smaller ones(gas only) then computer will set Lean Codes because it is having to open the injectors longer that it calculated to get the same amount of fuel added thru the smaller injectors

And you can still run E85 in a non-flex engine if you want, the different head chamber design was optimal for E85 but not required

Are the heads ruined on the original motor?

The whole motor is ruined on the original motor... it spit a valve seat and chewed up the head, piston, cylinder wall etc.

We E85ed a N/A 2000 Subaru impreza and basically everything but the engine had to be changed to the stuff that wont get eaten by it. The whole project was a fantastic waste of time and money but thats what he wanted. Made about 80hp more.

E85 seems pointless, sure the cost/gallon is less, but from what Ive heard its less efficient so you end up using more per mile, I tried 1 tank in the escape and that was enough for me to not use it again. I got 17 on E85 and am getting 19 on regular 87 unleaded.

Use it on something with FI. Massive difference.

Calm down @PetroleumJunkie412 they never made an E85 2.9 Cologne. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Yet.

Been considering adding an E85 sensor and requisite injectors, etc to try it when I get the blower on. Though, I've read some forum posts with photos of poor quality control on E85 fuels wiping out turbo builds.

Tuning, Turning, Tuning, is the only way to tame that animal.

Your face is a dyno!
