hey everybody! new to the site and just bought a 94 Ranger- extra cab short bed, 4.0L, 5 spd, 4x4. The truck has 113k miles on it, crazy low I know. It was from IL and I live in CA. Here is all the info on the truck from the seller who was very upfront with me and I knew what I was getting into. Truck failed the evap system portion of the smog test. The owner told me that he identified the culprit as the gas filler hose (hose from the cap to the tank as I understand) that was leaking pressure. He told me he found a replacement on ebay for $150 other posts to various forums showed that the part was found for between $100 and $150. I found, on ebay, what I believe to be the part I need for $40. I want to make sure that I am buying not only the correct part but the entire part i.e. if any other hardware or pieces should be included for the total fix.
Here is the link:

Thank you in advance for your time, effort and knowledge!

With the description of what you need, that looks like what you need. Just be careful, if it's cheap it might be low quality..you get what you pay for. :icon_thumby:

If the $40 part fixes the problem.......buy a spare one ;missingteeth;

that sounds like a great idea doorgunner, thank you. And Jraymer360, i could not find any differences on the cheap one @ $40 or the other one at $100 (couldnt find any above that) not only was the part number the same but the picture on the add was the same as well. go figure. but thanks for your advice- that is always the case.

another issue. on the test drive the push button 4x4 engaged and performed like it should have. now is a different story. The light on the dash to show if 4x4 or 4xlow is engaged will not light up and the front wheels will not receive power. A quick research showed that if there is no light on then it is probably the switch inside the dash. If the light does turn on but no 4x4 engages then it may be the accuator (spelling?) the trans or the motor.
the lights will not light up in this particular case as stated before so i should start by replacing the switch?
I have been told they are avail on ebay for $12-$20. what would be the formal name for the part? so i know what to purchase.
Thanks dudes!

Sorry, I can't help you. But it may be prudent to start a new thread as those that can help may skip this one if they have read it already or don't know the question has changed from the header.
Good luck,

Richard

Just because they look the same doesn't mean they are. and yeah it just puts your gas into your tank it's not too big of a deal.

This is what you need to fix your 4x4 shift problems:

As for your smog issues, the fix is moving out of California. PA is nice. We are a CARB state, get all the same super-long emissions warranties, but 90% of the state doesn't have to deal with the same crazy emissions tests that all of CA has to do.
