Went out and picked up a 1986 F-250 4x4 for 500. The guy told me it ran but was leaking oil, after looking it over I knew it was the right one. Got it loaded up on my buddies 17' trailer....had to use a come-along...that was fun only about 1/2 inch clearance on either side of the trailer. Well once I got back to the house we pulled a battery outa the boat and grabbed a gas can. put a little primer fuel in the 4bbl and crank crank varooom!!! started right up and idled nice! We let her warm up while pulling the straps off and then my buddy says yup its leakin oil. Well leak wasnt the right word, more like draining the entire system through what im assuming is a completely missing rear main seal! Well nonethe less we hurried up and backed it off the trailer, making it most of the way before it fell off the side of the trailer....very small clearances. and got it into the garage, almost going through the back wall due to the lack of brakes!! The e-brake kinda worked.

After a small amount of identification work I have assertained that I have a 351 mated up to a C6 with a NP208F transfer case. Dana 44HD TTB (maybe D50 not sure yet) front axle and Sterling 10.25 4.10 limited slip full floating rear. Which will all be going into the B2 and Ill make the money back on parting out the 250 and selling the old parts outa the bronc!
Heres some pix.

Nice find, what's with the dipstick sticking out there in the open in one of the pictures though? That could be part of your oil leak problem is the lower half of the dipstick tube is missing completely.

I think that is a zip-tie.

HAHAHA I hadnt even seen that. I went out and looked under the truck and well unfortunatly its only a zip tie :-( But the oil leak is coming out of the bottom of the bell housing while the motor is running. Its a stream about as big as my pinky pouring out....pretty sad, ill fix it b4 i run it anymore lol....but it was still leaking when I shut it down so at least there is some oil left in it!!

Probably just needs a hub seal, and maybe a torque converter, if the stub is worn.

So what does it take to put the axles from the F250 underneath the bronco ii? I know you will have to fabricate new brackets and cut the old ones out and etc but will you shorten the axles down to the width of the original axles in the bronco or will you let them just stick out? I thought about looking into using a donor besides the explorer but wasn't sure how it would work. Good luck with the build I think you have inspired me to find an F-250 or at least an F-150 :icon_thumby:

Haha, sure is in a bad position and yea after looking real close I can see the locking part of the zip tie now, before I couldn't see it, and it does look like a dip stick if you don't look real close LOL.

I am going to leave them full length.I have bushwacker cutout flares installed and im pretty sure they will cover most of the tires, the current narrowed gear looks kinda goofy to me with the flares installed. As far as what exactly it takes this will be a discovery I will post about for all to enjoy, as I currently have the skyjacker 6 inch lift with the extended radius arms and am going to try and keep as much of that as I can in the swap.

haha yup!! thats y I went and looked at the truck, wanted to be sure!!

well please keep us posted because I may try this in the spring. Any idea how much wider the f250 axles are than the b2 from center on the tire to center? Is there enough fender flare and bushwackers to take in the extra length?

another member in the non ranger axle sub forum says that you can buy a bracket that will allow the ttb axles in the f250 to bolt right in the b2
