The fan speed control does not seem to be functioning right on my truck... 4 blows good and strong like it should, but 1, 2, and 3 don't seem to do anything. I've been told I may need to clean the contacts on the switch? Sound right?

There is a pack of resistors used to slow your fan. When the switch is anywhere other than Max, power runs through that resistor pack. When the pack fails, you get what you're describing.

On the engine side of the firewall, on the passenger side is your blower box. You'll see several fairly large wires plugged straight into the fan housing. That's where your resistor pack is located. New one was $7 when I needed it.
