Factory Fog Light install on 2001 XLT?

2000 3.0, 4.0 is the same but not labeled.
follow the wheel speed sensor cables, should find the fog lamp wires.

So I went to a local junk yard today to see some that have the wiring. Mine doesn't have it for some reason. This image is where the speed sensor line is. I got the wires off 1 of the Rangers at Pull-A-Part and am going to tie into my parking lights. Unless I can figure out how to make the factory switch active.

Just "tie into my parking lights" is not a good idea.

The added load of the fog lights won't be good for a 20-plus year old light switch. And in a lot of places fog lights can only come on when the headlight low beams are on. But, I'd be more concerned with burning out the light switch.

You'd really need to add a relay the drive the fog lights, and if you're adding the relay it'd be just as easy to wire up the factory switch to trigger the relay.

Yea read that online when I googled. Is there a plug n play relay to make my factory switch active? Wondering if this one will work? Does it just plug in where the relay is in the box under the hood? That would make things real simple. I'm not good with wiring things like that.

Sorry, but I'm not sure on a truck that new.

I suspect, but don't know for sure, if Ford switched to using standard relays. I have used standard relays as replacements on my '94s; that's why I suspect that they did.

If you have a connector in place in your dash, that does plug into your switch, you could temporarily substitute another relay in the box, plugged into the fog light slot, and test to see if it clicks when you operate the switch. If so, it'd be safe to buy a relay for it.

Then you just have to figure out where the factory fog lights wires stop in your truck; they're either well hidden, or you'll have to extend them from where you can find them.

What you posted looks like a "universal" relay and harness kit.

You could go that route, but the wiring would become a little more complex.

Also on my 01 XLT I have a round 4 prong plug not hooked to anything by chance do you know what it could go to

No, I don't, and I don't have any wiring schematics newer than 1994.
