Can I put a 2001 ext cab on my 83 Reg cab Frame I Have No Problem Welding its just i got a Good Deal On The Truck Minu Engine for 600 and well i would have more than that in body work on my 83 but will it fit

Mechanical Engineer I used to work with said "Anything's possible - it's just a question of time and money".

But wouldn't it be tons easier to put the 83 engine into the 01?

well i dont want to move to that frame seeing that i all ready did my Sas on my 83 frame i was just tryin to see if the body mounts will be in the same positon on both frames i mean i have no issue on weldin new ones in i just ws tryin to see to figure out how much down time i would have

Most should be in the same place if you use the same gen. the front cab mounts will be the same but fabbing rear cab and bed mount will be necessary from my limited research

Im not using the same gen im wanting to put the 01 cab on the 83 frame

sure you could put new mounts and everything but your bed wont work on the frame unless you "bob" cut it

What he said too, LOL If it where me Id just plan on cutting off all the mounts and just plan on starting from scratch

would be a good start for an offroad tubed bed :D

yea i know it is going to be an off road tube bed seeing that i dont have a bed on there yet i just didnt know if the front mount and stuff were in the same spot or not.. but i can weld new ones on does anyone make aftermarket or replacment mout for te frame if im going to do it would rather just use new ones rather than the old ones save the hassle of them rusting out

i think ive seen some on ebay but i may be mistaken...check the stealership

No offense but if you have them both why don't you just measure where all the mounts are and the frame lenghts and the crossmembers and such.

measure ur frame lengthes first. unless ur planning on a custom built bed putting an extended cab on a standard cab frame even with relocated cab mounts probably wont leave enough support for a funtional bed. I guess it might be possible if the 83 frame was designed for a reg cab with a long bed.

I dont think he cares about the bed
