EXPERTS PLEASE HELP .. 1990 B2 2.9 This is a desperation case.

@MajorKlozeoff
This is what i would do to verify timing:
*"verify first that your coil has sufficient output, THEN**
1) pull the passenger side valve cover
• manually rotate the crankshaft until both the #1 exhaust is seated and the #1 intake valve just fully seats
• verify the position of the crankshaft in relation to the pointer
• if it is spot on you are either at 0° TDC or 180° out

Snug (only) down the valve cover and start it up. If it doesn't start,
** reset the engine to 0° TDC, REMOVE THE DISTRIBUTOR ** (thank you @alwaysFlOoReD )**

, then manually rotate the crank 180°. Once starts up, warm it up to normal operational temperature, shut it down, disconnect the spout. Then Start it and set the base timing. NOTE, I do this with all lights on radio cranked and A/C on full arctic mode.

Once the base timing is set with the spout disconnected, shut it down, reconnect the spout, fire it up and see how it runs ..)

So if it doesn't start , simply rotating the crank 180 by hand would increase probability of it starting?

Having the valve cover off and looking at the valve closing confirms you are on or near top dead center on #1 cylinder. Then you can look at your rotor and make sure its pointing to #1 cylinder. If not you can try turning the distributor but if there isn't enough then you need to pull the dizzy and reinstall in the correct orientation.
I think gaz forgot to mention pulling the dizzy if its 180°out.

i guess that's going to depend on what you can see/verify with the pulley off. i'm not sure if youll be able to see any of the timing marks or anything like that
I never changed the timing gears. I thought you meant behind the pulley .

I need to stress...

Pull the SPOUT before any timing adjustment

So I can confirm the crank pulley went and spun

Removed and cleaned up
Progress in pictures

Pulled cap and The fucking rotor isnt turning when turn the crank by hand .
Wtf

Can you turn the rotor by hand?

Broke distributor drive gear...

Distributor not down all the way.

Broken camshaft...

I think the drive gear is held on to the shaft with a roll pin, that can shear.

Drove into garage . I pulled the distributor and reinstalling now
Keep you up to date. Wish me luck
Eating and sleeping this thing for two weeks
First thing id do is make sure the distributor is seated all the way. With the bitch of a location its at on a 2.9 its easy to think its in...but its not.

How in the...

That....

Could definitely cause a problem.
