Exhaust options?

at some point i would like to do an exhuast update on my truck. i can't afford dual exhaust, but i was thinking about just a new muffler to get a little better sound and performance. Flowmaster? any suggestions

replace muffler with pipe. or a flowmaster 40. 2 most common options

What can you afford? I paid about $230 for my local shop do do a 2.5" catback with a Flowmaster 40 and I like the sound and response. You're not going to trick yourself into thinking you gained any serious power, but the response feels better IMHO.

i can afford a muffler but not a full dual exhaust system

I have single in/single out as well and it is stock layout, so you wouldnt even know I did anythign until I started it. Mine sounds best to me about 1400-1800rpm puttering around town and since I kept to the original exit location, it's unobtrusive in the cab on the highway.

how much money for?

how much for single in, single out pipe. that is the next size up from stock,plus the muffler. i plan on doing everything on my own. What are we talkin

i have to do some front end work right now, i can barely afford that. so if i do exhaust i should put new piping in and the flowmaster. correct? i am planning on swapping a v-8 in the distant future. is exhaust worth it at this point?
