A propane grill regulator (like 10 bucks at any hardware store) creates the perfect pressure (1-2psi) when run off of a standard 150psi air compressor. My smoke machine is made from maybe 30 dollars in parts. A paint can, some resistance wire, a tiki torch wick, propane regulator, and some hoses and fittings. Fueled by mineral oil, the car battery, and air compressor.
