I swapped a 98 upper intake manifold onto my 92 ranger and installed a 60mm throttle body off a 2001 escape duratec 3.0. none of these problems existed before the swap but as soon as i was done the swap i went to start it up and it wouldnt start unless i stomped on the gas, it was idling fine and will idle fine once it warms up but i have to stay on the gas untill then or else it will die, when driving it is all over the place it is extremely sluggish and drive kinda like a 2 stroke dirt bike with a crazy power band, even when it hits power its slower than before thouigh, it is running very rich and backfires alot and if i punch it it boggs down quit a bit and unloads a couple nice backfires, any ideas as to where i went wrong on this swap? do i just need to get my computer reprogrammed?

i actually didnt even change the tps the plug fit into the escape one so i just used it lol, duh, swappped that out to the original tps and it fixed alot of problems but something still isnt right, it starts up normally now but i can't give it any gas till it warms up a bit or it will bogg down and die, drives normally for the most part once warm but if i punch it its super sluggish, slower than if i were to go half throttle, seems like its still running super rich

I would double check around the throttle body and intake for any leaks. It's usually the stupid small mistakes that give us the most frustration.

sounds kind of like an air leak, as said above check the mating surfaces with starting fluid, it will idle up if it is sucking in starting fluid.

ya ill have a look for leaks tommorow, another symptom, it usually drops into overdrive around 75km if im light on the throttle, right now it just jumps in an out of overdrive and wont actually stay in overdrive untill i hit like 100

The Duratec V-6 with 4 valve / cylinder pulls a lot more air than the Vulcan 2 valve / cylinder, so it needs a larger throttle body. The throttle body on the Vulcan is optimized for the amount of air it will pull, so put the original throttle
back and it will run fine.
