I left my bronco2 sir for a month and a rat made a nice big home in the engine. So far I’ve found the wire from the coil to what looks like a capacitor is chewed up and so short I can splice it back. What exactly is that capacitor looking thing called and would that cause it not to star at all? Haven’t had time to dig deeper so there might be more wires chewed up. I hate trying to fix what rats distroy but I e already spent a lot of money and time on this bronco. Thanks for any help and advice

I believe that is to suppress radio interference from the ignition coil. It can be removed.

Yeah its a noise suppresser. IIRC though, it (or a wire) needs to be there for it to run.

So a jumper wire should do the trick. I had some time just a few min ago to go mess with it and it looks as if I’ll be fixing some vacuum lines as well. Can’t mess with it anymore tonight but thanks for the info

Just leave the capacitor disconnected, don't short across it.

noise capacitor is in the positive power feed to the coil, it will blow fuses if you connect it to ground, as has been previously mentioned, don't short it to ground, the only side effect may be some slight radio interference.
