When I just lay my foot on the gas pedal, no rpm raise, the engine stutters/hesitates as if it wants to die. I go a hair above and it is fine and I take my foot off the gas and it is fine. What can cause this?

I'd hazard a guess that it's the TPS. Look for .96v on its middle wire with throttle closed and smooth increase in voltage as pedal is pressed. Engine doesn't need to be running for this test, just key in Run.

Had the same issue with mine. Does your check engine light flicker with the hesitation? Mine did and coded a bad TPI(throtle position sensor)Swaped in a new one, problem solved. Good luck

TPS or bad ignition system (cap, rotor, spark plugs/wires, coil)

I'm gonna say it's the tps, the whole distributor is brand new, along with new plugs and wires.
