The truck was running fine then the next day I got in cranked it up idled fine. When I put it into gear the rpms drop but go back up. Not really worried about that but don't know of its part of the issue. When it warms up I can raise the rpms to about 1500 Rpms and the rpms start to jump. Once I make it past about 1800-2000 Rpms it doesn't do it. It acts as if the maf sensor is not connected. And it only does it through 3rd gear.
I unplugged the maf sensor while it was running and the Rpms jump like it does around 1500. I didn't let it run long enough for it to die. I plugged it back in while it was running and even at idle it was jumping. I turned the truck off and started it back up and it idled fine again. I raised it back to 1500rpns and it started jumping again.
I looked through previous forums the only thing I could fin similar was the maf sensor.
How can I test it to see if its working.
Also to I have a universal cold air intake it's in a u shape and in the bottom of the pipe is oil. If I look into the throttle body I see oil. I don't think that is causing the Rpms to jump but I had someone tell me that I could replace the egr valve and that might fix the oil.
Could the egr valve be causin the jumping in Rpms?
