I have a 2004 4.0 4x4 manual with 120,000 miles. I found a 2009 4.0 4x4 manual with extremely low miles. Can I do a direct swap? If not whats the difference. Is the long block the same? Thanks in advance for the help..

it should be a direct swap. although id run the old engine till it dies and then swap in the low km one. also if you ever want to sell it the value would go down since its not the original engine and it wasnt done by ford. i was thinking of finding a used backup.

You're scaring me, don't tell me you're 4.0l blew with only 120,000 miles.

No it runs....not well. Passenger side cam is out of time and ford wants 3000.00 to fix it. I had a "reputable" mechanic replace the jackshaft tensioners. But he wont pull the motor to fix the passenger side. I figured I could swap in a low mileage later model one. Then it would be all new. That rear passenger side cam is a crap design. I need to do the clutch anyway. Thanks again!
