General specs: '87 Ranger, with an '83 mustang 2.3 straight-4. What I'm thinking happened is that someone before me swapped the engines, and converted it to EFI... Unless '83 mustangs had EFI. As far as I'm aware though, they were carbureted. The thing ran great until it didn't.
The problem: after warming up, the engine bogs down on acceleration. It feels like it's actually slowing down when I hit the gas and it just sounds kinda funny when it's revving higher. The idle is not the best, but it's always cycled a bit and been a little funky.
What I've done so far: Distributor cap and rotor are good, timing marks are aligned, and I have the timing set to 10* before TDC. Checked the vacuum system, no leaks. Checked the fuel filter, it was good but I changed because I already had the new part. I get fuel pressure all the way up to the Injector rail, the pumps are both good. Tail pipe is also clear and has good flow.
Any more ideas? I'm stumped
Many thanks.
