Had clutch line melt thru a couple weeks ago on my 89 Ranger. Called dealer $90 for new one. No way I'm paying that for a piece of plastic! Cut line with a hot razor blade, ran small drill bit up center of line to get any melted plastic out. Put two 3/8"compression fittings and piece of 3/8"copper line in. Next time I have transmission problems I will just have to take apart a compression fitting. Been 3 weeks no leaks yet.

It should be fine... I ran a compression fitting on mine for years and never had a problem.
