Dweano's V8 Project Attempt

Almost. I dont remember reading the rear didnt need modifications. Rwenzing used the 4406 on his ranger swap, but his is a newer sala suspension, not the ttb...

Phew...what a day. Putting in the 5.0L was tougher than I thought. I really didn't want to bust apart the tranny and engine so I did it together

Any other comments or recommendations...are welcome!

*facepalm*

You are officially the first I've seen do that. SVT has a how to do this swap here: ( http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/January2011/explorer-v8_95-97_ranger.shtml ) and he's been guiding you.
So I guess my question is why cut it?

Because I was reckless and lazy? I will patch it back up to maintain integrity. And I don't really care what under my hood looks like haha.

Taking the intake off is what I SHOULD have done...but for some reason that didn't occur to me when I had it half wedged in already

I would have to find one from a 120 inch wheel base f150

Tiniest little update...spent the afternoon making new plates and what not to get the engine shifted where it should be, and put 2 inch spacers under the tranny. So drivetrain is sitting where it should be and is tightened down. Easier said than done!!

Also got the fuel and power steering lines connected up, also easier said than done haha

Made tons of progess this week. The gash in the core support is fixed. Everything is hooked up. Bumper is painted. Lights are wired up.

Just before leaving the shop today I started it up...ran for about two seconds, spewed oil, and died.

Despite how that sounds I was pumped, started up instantly, sounded so healthy. I had never heard it before so I was happy there was no knock or tick. It likely died because of a vacuum leak? Or lack of oxygen sensors hahahah. Just open headers with no sensors so I am not really worried. I started it a couple more times and it ran a second or two longer. So not too worried about that.

The oil leak is from the adaptor that screws to the block that reroutes the hoses. It is sandwiched between the block and steering box. Most inconvient place ever. It POURS out too. Almost like I forgot to block the one side (I didn't...) I put the seal in how it was supposed to be. Only thing I can think is it is cracked :S

I will investigate next time I go to the shop
