duraspark, never got mine right. replaced it with breakerpoints after burning out 4 controll boxes in about a year.

I believe the tech library says you can still use them, just that the one with the blue grommet is prefered.

My dad went thru a handfull of parts store brand boxes in a couple months when he first got his F-350, eventually he broke down and got a regular Ford one, it has been in the truck for at least 15 years.

Fix for burning up ignition boxes

The reason for burning up the Electronic ignition boxes is because you are using the factory coil. You need to get a coil for a duraspark setup. I ran into the same thing. Especially if you leave your key turned just to on for a while. Box gets hot enough to fry an egg. Soon as I switched to a regular coil problem has gone away. Its been 4 years and running. I would rewrite the directions I posted years ago but never had the rights to so. Maybe someone else can add to the Duraspark writeup I did years ago.

Ive been using a gm four pin module on my b2 for the last five years. only four wires and it's hei.

I've used generic duraspark modules in my vehicles for years. I have no idea what you guys are doing wrong.
