Drunk driver tottaled my ranger NEED ADVICE

Yes, a disc brake upgrade would be good. But my insurance comment was about your gvaw or whatever your truck is rated to carry. If you go over that and get in an accident you may find yourself screwed. I don't know off hand what that amount is, you could be alright, just be careful.
You may want to check your tire rating too.
I know when I incorporated, suddenly the fines were much higher for a load not being properly tied down on my truck registered as commercial, compared to when my truck was registered as personal use. And no one tells you that when you swap registrations!

why not mount your welding equipment on a trailer? keeps you under the gvwr, frees the bed up for other things, and you won't have to keep loading and unloading it off your truck. oh, and a trailer with electric brakes would be good.
just my $.02.

My only fear with a trailer is theft! On the trucks my insurance would cover theft but not if it was mounted on a trailer I checked. Its still an idea Im kicking around.

I got my check today!!! 3100 and I keep the truck! Time to get to fix'n it!!! Flat bed ranger here I come!!! Chevy leafs and 1 peice drive shaft going to try and do it all next week!! Should I start a new tread for the build/ rebuild? And ill start posting pics
