Hey guys,
I've got a 92 ranger. 2-wheel drive. 4.0L. Ext cab. I've dropped the transmission because it had a terrible leak at the tailhousing (I think that's the right name for it), it had been whining really bad so I'm pretty sure some of the bearings are bad, and the clutch was starting to slip.
1. Is there a way to look at bearings and know if they're good or not?
2. I don't want to put a ton of money into it, but I don't mind dropping $200-$300. How much do you think I should do? Im certainly going to change the clutch and possibly the flywheel. But I'm not sure which seals I should do. What seals would you recommend replacing? Would you change the master cylinder? The flywheel? Any other parts?
Thanks in advance to anyone who might help me.
BTW- the gears and synchros look great as far as I can tell...
