...Constant vibration while in drive (felt mostly under drivers side seat).., vibration at around 30mph under load.., no vibration when no gas is going to engine... U joints are good.., carrier bearing is stable... There is also a "clunking" noise while in any gear but it goes away after several tire revolutions... Tires are inflated properly... Last balance and alignment was about 2 years ago... I was thinking tires imbalanced... This happened suddenly... Any thoughts? Thanks! I also have video tape of the noise if needed... 96 Ford Ranger V6, 3.0L, 209K miles... Thanks for the help!!

Bearings? Those suckers fall out of place... lots can get messed up and getting new ones machined is a pain and costly. Have you taken the tires and all that what-not off and looked at the Hubs and stuff?

I have checked the rear drums, shoes, etc... Tires.., it is not the tires... I am suspecting a failing u joint.., but they seem to be ok... But Ima replace all three u's and have the drive shaft rebalanced anyways... Hopefully that works... What sux is that when I was looking for this problem.., I found a minor leaking axle seal.., so yeah.., replace that and the other and replace the rear bearings... Not costly.., just need a tool to get to them (which is costly)... R.I.P. Ford Rangers! they should keep making em...
