Dormans sells a $27 shifter bushing kit - Did you do it?

I just finished doing the job with Dorman's kit and I have to report it had an unexpected complication. The eccentric cam bolt that holds the stick onto the stub shaft came off with great difficulty even using the trick of putting the nut on the other side. Then I couldn't get that nut to release from the proprietary threaded shaft, so I had to go to the hardware store and get two jamb nuts in that same pitch to hold the rod steady, and I still couldn't get the nut to back off. Finally, I heated the nut with a torch in a bench vise and it backed out. I cleaned up the threads and did the install and now it's fine. I spent about 3 hours on this job including time to drive to the hardware store. It's shifting fine and I cleaned up the shifter boot and underneath so it's 2010 factory clean again.

I'm running the dorman kit feels good to me I use some grease as is going to a bit of time before fluid make it way up there.

I've never seen inside a manual transmission as it's turning. I was wonder how much splashing there is, and could the couple of quarts of of fluid at the bottom splash up that high. I suspect it does but I don't know for sure.

I bought a dorman kit to have on hand but don’t really need it as I have a hurst. Someday it might need to go back to factory stock or I may get another ranger and need one. When I had my 93 the dorman kit didn’t even exist, the dealer was giving me the runaround about what i was needing so I bought a hurst. Money well spent, its in its 2nd truck with over 80K total miles on it, they are of course more $ now but still worth it.

I was told the Hurst kit has no ventilation for the crankcase and will result in blown seals. Is that true?

Ive never had a issue with seals, the stub seal on the hurst can expand/contract with any pressure or temperature changes. On the stock setup the seal is moved enough to vent when its in a gear, sealed when in neutral. Ive always found it odd that the m5od didnt have a traditional vent like a rear axle for example.
