The bushings are shot on my 1990 Ranger driver's side door, so I went to get a hinge pin kit. There were far too many to pick from, and none were even remotely like the ones currently on my truck which seem to be pressed on like a long rivet and not intended to be easily replaced. I picked one that seems like it will work. My guess is that to remove the old one; the pressed end needs to be ground off. Just wondering if anybody's done this already and knows a better way.

Unlike MOPAR and GM Ford intended the pins to not be serviced individually, but with the hinge.

If you find something that works properly I would suggest drilling it for a butterfly pin.

To get the old door hinge pins out, I just cut them in half with a die grinder. The replacement aftermarket pins I have used in Fords have splines at the top of the pin, you just hammer the new pin in place.

Great, thanks xltsplash. Like adsm08 said; they apparently were not intended to be serviced, but the replacements I bought seem right in every way (length, diameter, e clip position etc.) and say "for Ford" right on the box. I just hope the bushings fit and this is a quick fix that doesn't require disassembly...re-drilling...assembly. I'm a little burnt out on fixing vehicles right now. I've been doing so much of it for the last two years everyone's starting to tell me to open a garage. lol
