My credo
God is great, beer is good, and rangers are awesome!
So, when my passenger door closes, it takes about 4 seconds for dome light to turn off. Knowing it's the switch thingy in the door slowly going out, does anyone have a guide on how to fix it? Do I have to take door panel off?

Sounds OK to me. My Bmws have a 10 second delay :D

Rangers go off as soon as the door closes I think. At least that is how they were with my 97 and 99. So my 98 should be the same. Driver door is ok, turns off as soon as it's closed.

Isn't there a Tech article about this? But I think it said something about WD40 sprayed in the door latch or maybe it was silicon spray.

Tried that with mom's Explorer, it was a short time fix. Like a day or two.

Yeah, blast it with silicon spray.. worst case scenario yo will need to replace the switch that is in the latch assembly. I have been lucky and been able to keep mine working by spraying them once a year

Ok I'll try it. Recently I've been having passengers and it's getting worse..

Just replace the switch and be done with it. Everything is pretty straight forward with the Ranger.
