I have a 2002 Ranger with the dreaded door ajar light on. I took both door latches apart and both switches are working. My light is still on. Are there switches in the small back doors? I didn't see any wires running to either of the latches so I suspect not but if someone could confirm that would be great. What else could cause the light to remain on?

dont take anything apart, just spray wd40 into both door laches, problem solved :)

Mine does the same thing, changed the latch switches with no avail. I left it after that, but I think that it might be something screwed up in the GEM.

If the WD40 doesn't work you need to pop the door panels off, one at a time, and jump wires across the door ajar switch connector and see if the light goes out.

I've seen the back doors not latching properly (usually the lower latch) causing door ajar lights on. Does pulling on the door cause the light to go out?
