i dont see how thats possible... the front wheel bearings on kia rio's make geo metro's bearings look bulletproof. i saw all 4 wheel bearings go out on a 30,000 mile kia.. they are shopping cart bearings... actually worse... those cars are absolute garbage.

Perhaps they were installed improperly. They use smaller bearings but the car also weighs substantially less. Regardless, the hard data on warranty repairs shows them being better.
