Does that add a leaf thing actually work?

Idk if it was on Reddit or here that I discussed my lead springs, but they aren’t I the best shape. I got a lift kit on my truck so it made my leads look kind of flat, but I’ve been noticing that after doing on runs to the dump every so often, my leafs have a slight bow upwards in the middle, they’re not cracked or anything so they’re still good but will sticking one of those single add a leafs help? I’m planning on putting a camper shell on my truck and I don’t want to over stress the leafs. because I filled my truck to the max one day with logs and I was scraping my tires on the fenders when I hit bumps and stuff

i have used those add-a-leafs on a few trucks and it made them ride rough, like a 3/4 ton. it did lift the back up though so it will do what you are looking for but until you put that shell on, its going to be very stiff feeling

If your leaf springs arch the wrong direction... they're just plain worn out.

New springs or have those re-arched.

And add a leaf or a helper spring won't fix worn out spring packs.

Id just replace the springs.

Putting an add a leaf in worn springs will just stress the add a leaf and itll end up worn out in short order too.

I use add-a-leafs to gain height, not load capacity. If you want to keep the truck from squatting as much you either need springs with a higher load rating or load leveller shocks/air shocks/airbags.

Add-a-leaf springs do work. They do make for a rougher ride though. I had them on my 89 STX but it had a 350 lb shell on the bed. That made it ride normal and the ride height was correct. I also added air bags in the rear for when I was towing and/or carrying a heavy load in the bed. If I took off the shell it was very stiff in the rear even with no pressure in the air bags.

I decided to use only air bags in the rear for my 02 FX4. That makes it easier to adjust for whatever load is on it and I can raise the rear more if needed when off-road.
