hi guys, quick question: i have a 99 ranger XLT does this truck has ABS on the four wheels or just RABS??
i have noticed that when i drive in rain, the next morning the brakes seem to be "sticky", when i move the car, like for example when parking it out the garage, they are a bit easy to lockup, once i drive long distance and they warm up a bit the stickness goes off.:dunno: i have no ABS lights on when this happens. it only lits when i start the car as normal function. Maybe this happens cuz the brake pads are out of life, will check /replace the brake pads soon. i'm asking about the 4wheel ABS because the owners manual i think talks about ABS and then about RABS, as if it has ABS on the four wheels, 'im not sure, will read again the manual.
thanks!:icon_thumby:

edit: also the parking brake light sometimes work, and sometimes doesn't, is this cuz the brake pads are tooworn up??

you have a truck, not a car :icon_thumby:

the easiest way i can think of to identify 4 wheel ABS is to look under the hood and see if the ABS hydarulic unit is there. its on the drivers side near the brake master cylinder, it'll have 3 brake hardlines coming out of it. if its there you have 4 wheel ABS.

but the ABS is not causing your problem. what your describing sounds like the typical rear shoe swell. certain shoes absorb moisture from the air overnight and hense they tend to be grabby in the morning until the brakes heat up and the moisture boils off.

oohh i see, thanks. i'll check if i have 4wheel ABS, im pretty sure i've seen those three lines over there, also i saw something like a couple of hidraulic valves the other day

thanks!!!

i just cheked out the engine bay, and i found the hidraulic unit its close to the brake master cyl. the brake cyl, has 2 hardlines , one going out to the bottom of the car, one coming to the hydraulic unit, and one coming from the ABS unit to the bottom of the car, does that means i have 4whell ABS or just RABS??. i want to know cuz, on hard braking the front tires tend to lock a bit so i want to know if thats normal, the reartires work fine
thanks!!

that sounds like 4 wheel ABS. the rear ABS module is under the truck...so if it was just RABS, there wouldnt be any extra modules under the hood.

its normal for the tires to lock with ABS, as long as they immediatly unlock, you should be fine.

oohh thanks!! thats great!! a truck with 4w ABS lol!!
thanks a lot man!!
