I found a picture of a dash cap. If I installed a dash cap it would be the same color as the dash. I plan to look for a good used crack free dash. The 91/94 Explorer dash, the 93/94 Ranger dash and 89/90 Bronco II dash look the same as my 92 Ranger. I know how Ford likes to change little details of parts. Does anyone know for sure if these other dashes will fit in my 1992 ? If I can't find a very nice condition dash, I may use a dash cap. I don't care about the color of the dash because SEM makes a vinyl dye that's a great match to the blue interior in my 92 Ranger.
I know coverlay makes a dash cover for it.I have 1 on my 1st gen but there junk.Dont have a lot of options on aftermarket covers unfortunately.Maybe u can repair it and recover it with vinyl if your a good diyer
i just use a dash mat on vehicles i had with cracked up dash tops. i have seen those plastic overlays used and they look nice. not specifically on a ranger have i seen though. i would think if you dash is cracked and the cracks are buckling upwards, you would have to smooth them by trimming off the peeling/buckled parts for it to lay flat though
Yes, you will need to smooth things down completely for a dash cap to fit correctly.
I have a Coverlay on my 1990. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "junk", but there were a few areas I had to trim & modify for the vent registers to fit through it correctly. I've had it for maybe 2½ years now and it's held up well so far (ungaraged in SoCal sun). The color is just a hair darker too, but still way better than looking at multiple Grand Canyons on top the dash.
