When I grab a new to me I do plugs, wires, oil, air and fuel filters, reset KAM, brakes battery and wipers as needed, and make sure I have at least 3 keys if it has PATS.
Then I assess and fix any issues I knew about when I bought it, and just drive it for a bit.
I kind of assume anything I buy used with an auto is gonna need a transmission within the first year, so I don't change the trans fluid.
Coolant and hoses are changed based on assessment of actual condition, but on anything over 5 years old if one hose gets done they all do, and of course if I am opening the cooling system it gets a thermostat.
