Do any other auto transmissions bolt up to a 3.0 V6 besides the A4LD?

Just wondering here, do any other Automatic transmissions bolt up to a 3.0 that originally had a A4LD?

And are all A4LD's the same, or does it have to come from a 2wd 3.0 in order to fit my truck?

Any transmission that was originally offered with a 3.0 should work...but electronically controled ones will require some extra parts and work.

That means your options would be the M5OD, A4LD, 4R44E, and 5R44E. The 4R44E will probably need a new computer. The 5R44E definitely will need a new computer. You are probably best off with another A4LD, or by rowing gears and getting an M5OD.

Yup...I wouldn't even bother with trying to put another auto in it...for the same cost you could put a good used M5oD, which doesn't suck.

Personally, I'd just do the M5OD swap. The A4LD's are crap..

And for your question about why it has to ceom form a 3.0L, it is becuase a 2.3, 3.0, and 2.8/2.9/4.0 (those three are the same), have different bell housing patterns, so they will not bolt up.

any a4ld will work as long as you swap the bellhousing...

too bad a C6 wouldnt fit up, talk about a bulletproof combination.

the 3.0 in the taurus has been pretty tough, im sure its a differnt experiance in a ranger chassis though. my 4.0 has been pretty good. im thinking of adding headers in the spring. wish i could have it sounding like a 302 V8 w/dual exhaust. sure a 4.0 will run circles around a 3.0 , but the 3.0 is a reliable engine, it just makes its power higher in the rpm band than alot of other small ford motors, got to wind those squirrels up a bit!

Amen to The a4ld bein crap . . .

Personally i think a stick is always the best way to go over an auto

I'd love to do a manual swap. But I'd much rather just do a bolt in swap with little to no modification.

Hence why this thread is titled "Do any other auto transmissions bolt up to a 3.0 V6 besides the A4LD?"
