Do all 4.0 rangers have d35 front axle

My dad has a 92 ford ranger 2wd 4.0 and he wants to give me his 4.0. I know I am going to need a new computer, trans, and dash. I was looking at trying to find an early 90 model ranger to use in my 86 b2. Is there special years or is anything 89 and newer 4.0 have the d35? Thanks!

all 4.0L 4x4 trucks had a D35......
some other early 90's models had the dreaded D28/35 hybrid. stay away it. its junk.

The D-35 started in 1990 MY (as did the 4.0). It was the only front axle until 93 when the hybrid axle showed up.

no, the ifs started in 98. 95 had minor brake and interior changes

4.0's are known to have the hybrid axle? I always thought every 4.0 had the full d35.

The 4.0 never had a hybrid axle. I am assuming that you are looking for one and are trying to avoid the hybrids. That being the case I pointed out that you will not find a hybrid axle in something older than 1993.

The D28/35 "hybrid" axle is found in virtually all '93-'97 2.3L I4 trucks, and in some portion of 3.0L V6 trucks of the same years (meaning both the D35 and it's hybrid variant are possible in a 3.0L truck).

As said, 4.0Ls will all have the real-deal D35.
