Direct injection vs fuel injected engines

They're permanently open to eachother. They just call it a precombustion chamber because it evens out the flame front for the larger one that the piston is in. There's nothing but an invisible line dictating the separation of the spaces.

But seeing as your avatar is what looks to be a diesel engine I'm guessing you're an expert/experienced diesel mechanic trying to clear up some something that's only "technicality" not direct injection.

What I was getting at is the fuel is not sprayed into the combustion chamber with either setup, it is either in the intake port behind the valve or into the precombustion chamber, both are open to the main combustion chamber when the fuel is injected.

I am not a diesel mechanic however, that is just a neat graphic of the decal that goes on the side of the engine block on my tractor. Being a 1950's cartoon, that is actually a spark plug between the two valves.

eventually (before finally switching to an alternative energy source that would work) it will be Direct Injection multi-fuel engines that can run anything from 'pane or Hydrogen to Diesel or gasoline.

you mean no more customers ooops, I hink I filled my civic with diesel? Or ooops I filled my old school bus with a gas full of diesel?? Hehehe

My dad did that one time. He got use to fueling up the Buick with unleaded, that when he went to fill the Dodge Cummins, he filled it with unleaded too. We caught it before he went on the trip. It tooks us 4hours to drain 25gallons worth and probably was still about 5gal left. But at least it would be 5 gas/25 diesel.
