Diesel Tachometer Info

Does anyone have any info on installing a Tachometer on a diesel ford ranger. I just bought a 1985 with a 2.3l turbo mitsubishi diesel that has no tach on the original dash. If anyone has tried to install an aftermarket tach or a cluster from a ranger that had a tach I would like to hear how it went. Also I would like to set up a pyrometer. If anybody knows how to do that on a ranger I would love to know.
