Found a generator at work with a Isuzu C240. They wanted me to get rid of it for them, so I did
Now I want to put it in a ranger and turbo charge it. Anybody know anything about this. I'll sit down and read through and do some searches when I get to my desktop

The cam on a generator would not be ideal for a vehicle otherwise good luck.

I have done a diesel swap using a stationary motor a Kubota V2203 from a semi reefer. Although some say it can't be done because of the governor, yes they can be altered to work just fine in your truck. Your big challenge is mating it to your trans, I had to fab my own. If you have skills it isn't too bad. I added a turbo to it as well and it powers my truck with more power than I need and delivers mid 40mpg's. Sounds like a great project, do it!

I appreciate the motivation. I started wondering if I would be better off fixing the electronics and selling the generator to buy a jdm engine/trans combo. Also the last couple days I spent searching and I found a 1.6L diesel vw pickup. Only problem is its front wheel drive and na. I want turbo and rwd. Can I put a rwd transmission on it? Thinking i might need to go to a vw forum to get a accurate answer...

Found a 91' NPR truck. Has a 4bd1t turbo intercooled. engine, trans, driveshaft, heavy duty rear end, everything I need. And the price is absolutely worth it. Anybody know of a ranger with one in it?

The Isuzu 4b series are popular engines for diesel swaps.... Check out 4btswaps.com. There are tons of build threads over there. ( not just 4bts as the web site implies.)

Found a 84' 4x4 Isuzu motor and trans. Fingers crossed he doesn't sell it before I get over to pick it up!

Even better! Found a guy selling 3 turbo diesel isuzu troopers. Pick up the first one today, pretty pumped. Looks like ill be building a couple 4x4 turbo diesel rangers.
