daytime running lights aren't working

I don't know whats going on but I checked the fuses and they are fine. But things seem a little wacky lately, yesturday my left headlight stopped working which I already replaced, also my highbeams flicker on and off some times for no reason, I don't know what the heck is going on.

maybe our multi function switch (BLINKER) they work pretty much everything also check the day time running light module. to test the multifunction switch turn on your lights and move it around in a circle if they flicker and freak out your switch is bad. go to a junk yard find one in good condition and put it in see if that helps if not your out ten bucks check out a chilton to see where your daytime running light module is should be located on the driver side of the engine bay. You have a wiring problem. The DRLs work through an "off relay". When the headlights are turned on, the current opens a relay to turn DRLs off (in most rangers).

As to the high beams, do you hear a click when they turn on or off? If not, it probably is a bad relay, loose ground, or bad hot side connection. If so, you have a hot to ground short, and the thermal protective relay is kicking out. I'd bet on the relay / bad connection / hot side issue.

If the high beam issue also happens with low beams, check all the grounds for the lighting system.

The high beams stop flickering when I put the night lights on, the guy at autoparts told me from his experience that is a classic sign of the drl module gone bad, he went on to saying that this happens because the night lights cuts off the circut to the drl module or something along those lines which is why this is happening? can anyone confirm if this is true?

It's the DRL module. I've seen a number of them fail. Usually the drl's just stop working, but they've done many things from only one light working, to nothing working depeding on what fails and how they're wired. I don't think I have DRL's on my ranger any more...

today my drls starting working again, can this still happen with a bad drl module to be working again or does this rule it out? I have no clue but before I spend the big bucks because they aren't cheap just want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

Could be that your DRL module is intermittent...probably on it's way out. It could work fine for a while, or die right away.

I am trying to locate it, I was told drivers side headlight down low, I see a heat sink there, is that it? or is it the little black bock I see by the radiator?
