i am in the process of rebuilding my quads engine and as i was putting the last piece in the engine before i had to put the clutch and cover back on......i dropped a washer into the crankcase and now i have to tear it all back apart to get it out.....FML!!

I can relate man. Had the top end off my banshee and the dog came out to greet me. nocked a nut into the crankcase. Had to split the case to get it back out.

One time this guy I worked with told me this story about someone he worked with:

This guy was putting a timing set on a Land Rover. He was working outside for some reason, went in to get his RTV and a socket, came back out, buttoned her up, fired the engine and it made this horrible sound and smell. He shut it down and ripped the front cover off, a rat had climbed in while he was gone, and then gotten shredded all over the inside of the engine.

I rebuilt the engine on an old MGB I used to have. Gasket kit came with like 5 different oil pump gaskets. After several months bolted the tranny on - slid it in the car got everything ready for the test start. You guessed it - started right up, no oil pressure. Re-pulled engine found the right gasket blah blah blah. The only good thing was that I didn't run it long enough to hurt the bearings, at least you are somewhat lucky to have noticed the washer falling in.

i also have a 250x but i have the 350x conversion on mine and cant sell it for the life of me but they fun little quads

Dont feel bad been their done that. It sucked My fu%@ up was a cummins. Cost me big $$$$ in lost loads an labor Prob was I am the labor

My great uncle had the motor rebuilt on his model t a few years ago and they dropped a washer in it, but didn't realize it happened. it did some damage to the engine and the "t" was out of commision for a few months, but he got a cool keychain made out of a washer from the deal

I never get to do anything just once either.

I just had my Bobcat apart to adjust the chains. You have to pull the ROPS--which is a heavy some-bich, take the pedals and rods out, and take off the top plate, which is like 60 bolts and nuts. I got it together, used it once and parked it. Just came back this weekend and an axle seal has started leaking. Got to take it all back apart, and even further, to get the axle out to replace the seal. I'd much rather just take an engine apart because it isn't heavy. I'm tired of heavy things.
