Not to sure if someone has asked this question. I have a 87 ranger and i want to swap the dana 28 with a dana 35 and i have a 6" skyjacker lift on it right now. my main question will the dana 35 match up with all the lift brackets or will i have to change things around? thanks

As long as you have a new drop bracket and not the drop plate, it will bolt up without any problems.

If you use a '91-'94 Explorer or '90-'94 Ranger Dana 35 TTB, you won't need new brake lines. If you use a '95-'97 Ranger Dana 35 TTB, then you will get better brakes with a dual piston caliper, but you will have to have custom brake lines made.

yea its all new drop brakets that came with the skyjacker kit. thats what i wanted to hear hahahah. kind didnt know if it would be the same with the lift or not.

we have the same truck, mines a super cab, same lift and swap. every thing is bolt on and have fun.

thats perfect now i just have to find the axiles. what kind of donor vehical is better than others?

for the front, get a Dana 35 from a '95-'97 Ranger. Those axles have the dual piston brake calipers which will give you better and more consistant brake wear.

If you can't locate one of those, get an axle from a '91-'94 Explorer or Ranger.

Grab an Explorer rear axle from a '91-'94 if you don't want too much problems setting up the rear brake. The '95-'01 Explorer rear has disc brakes, but require more setup for the parking brake to work and it takes more to get the hard lines right.

i do have another question relating. will the drive shafts from the new axles work with the stock transfer case?

No. You will need to shorten your driveshaft or grab the donor tcase/driveshaft. The D35 pig is longer than the D28 one.

With a 6" lift you *MAY* not have to shorten the front driveshaft.

Several members on this site have been able to run the stock driveshaft with a 6" lift.

Only way to be sure is to install the driveshaft and cycle the front suspension fully and check for bind.

Hmm, that's interesting. I have a 6" lift and will be swapping in a D35 at some point...may have to give that a shot! I was under the impression that it would not work at all.

Come to think of it, the boot on my front shaft is pulled pretty tight. That may very well work.

o so i might not even have to take the drive shafts just the axles? i was under the impression that you kinda had to take it all
