So i'm swapping gears on a D35 and I have a carrier that has the factory 3.73s on it and I have a carrier and third member that has 3.27 gears on it. Now just out of curiosity I tried installing the 4.56 on the 3.27 carrier knowing that the break is 3.54 and lower and 3.27 and higher. And I was quite surprised that my back lash and contact pattern was in spec the pinion pre-load was a little higher than used bearing spec but a touch lower than the new bearing spec. :icon_confused:
Next question, What is your guys preferred way of crushing the new sleeve? I tried a 20 ton shop press and put a decent amount of force on it and it gave about .02 but i didn't wanna go any further for fear of it going to far in a shot. Tried the impact and the Snap On doesn't have enough muscle I guess. So I clamped the yoke and took after it with a breaker bar and got it to pop.

There is no carrier break on the TTB d35. All gear ratios use the 3.54 and up carrier in it.

As for the crush sleve, hold the yoke and turn it with a breaker bar with a long pipe on it. You want control over it, nice and smooth like.

Thats what I figured, Why in the world do they show a break then? thats gay. Anyways thanks for the info sir

make your self something like this, i just bought an inexpensive 1/2" drive impact socket and welded it through the rod.
