Ok I've been searching and reading for a few hours now, and I keep getting different answers. I'm in the middle of swapping a D35 into my 89 STX. I've read that factory lifted Rangers have a different driveshaft than reg. hight do. I know I have a 1350M transfer case, but my driveshaft is a double carden. I don't think it is slip spline. Also I have 6" lift.

So all I want to know is, do I have to shorten my driveshaft? Some say yes, others say no. I would hate to go have it shortened and have it too short for the lift.

Does anybody know for a fact?

with that much lift, you shouldn't need to shorten the shaft any... I think at stock height you need to shorted the shaft about 1.5" for a d28 to d35 swap. I think anything less than 4" lift needs a shorter shaft
On my B2 (close to 6" lift) the stock d28 shaft works fine with the d35 swap.

install the D35 and lift and then try to hook up the d-shaft and you'll know for sure

I have a 89 not an stx though. I dont know if the front drive shaft is different. But when I put in my d35 and 6 inch skyjacker I didn't have to shorten the front shaft.

Yeah with the lift you should be fine. A 6" lift is actually 4.5" on a STX Highrider truck, which should still be enough.
