D28 hubs on D35

I was wondering if its any way possible to put hubs from a D28 on a D35. i got a few complete d28s, and I was wondering if i took everything from the spindle-out and put on my d35 would that work? if not, why wouldnt it? I dont have the cash to spend the money on new manual hubs plus the conversion kit. thanks

The D28 hub body is deeper than the D35, so it isn't be able to engage... after you swap the guts out.

There was a guy on here that put washers in it so it was locked on full time, you might search for it.

The Dana 28 is 23 spline and Dana 35 is 27 spline. Dana 28 hubs won't work on the Dana 35.

according to the thread 85_ranger posted, the inner splined gear of a d35 can be put in a d28 manual to make it work. im just wondering if the d35 inner gear can be from an auto or if it has to be from a manual, hopefully i can take it from an auto. i might try it anyways just to see for myself

In the thread the guy switched the guts and just used the D28 body.

Aside from the OP stating he had washers stuffed in it so would be locked in all the time and working great, nobody ever got back about how things worked with the actual axle and locking/unlocking.
