hello .
i have an 03 ranger 4x2 with a 4.0 eng and 5 speed manual transmission.
the cruise worked a few weeks ago, but now nothing.
my speed is around 70 when i try to set it. i press the on button the the
set/accel button , speed control light illuminates and stays on but the cruise will
not set.
the fuses are good . i tried the koeo test the speed light would blink then pressed the "on" button speed light would blink. then i pressed the other buttons in the proper order and nothing. tried this with the tranny in 1st neutral
column in different positions all the same results.
any thoughts or help thanks.

check the brake switch for proper operation or a loose connection. sometimes just pulling it off and putting it back on will work if it is the connection. Normally it is a dual switch one is normally open for the brakes when you push the pedal it closes and the cruise is normally closed and opens when you touch the brake.

I never use my cruise control. I just make sure it works about 3-4 times a year. I don't really care to use it.

There was a TSB for '98-'00 rangers because the hydraulic cut off switch on the brake cylinders failed. Usually it stopped the cruise from setting at all. It also caused fires in some instances.

This is a normally closed hydraulic switch on the brake master cylinder. Check to see if yours is leaking. Test for continuity without the brake pedal pressed, should have continuity. When brake pedal is pressed, should not have continuity.

Yeah, that was a full blown recall, not a TSB. And the issue in question wouldn't let the system work at all.
